WiFi connection
Enable
From the main menu go to Settings
→ WiFi config
and select Enable
. WiFi starts in the selected mode: Station or AP mode.
- Station mode: Brian connects to an existing WiFi network.
- AP mode (access point): Brian hosts its own WiFi network for other devices to join.
To use the WiFi web app (BRemote), note the "IP address" shown in the WiFi config
menu and open http://<ip-address>
in a browser on a device connected to the same network. BRemote will open with various features.
Station mode
Select connect to...
in the WiFi config
menu to see available networks. Brian must be in scan mode to show the list. If you do not see any networks, start scanning using Start WiFi
, Disconnect
, or Disconnect AP
option.
Choose a network and click Connect. A padlock icon means a password is required; a blue WiFi icon (instead of gray) indicates a previously known network. If required, you will be prompted for the password.
Known (saved) networks are listed at the bottom of the screen. You can Forget a network or disable Auto‑join from the network's Manage
menu (Right button). Brian remembers up to 12 networks.
AP mode
Select configure AP
in the WiFi config
menu. Choose the network name (SSID) and password, or host an open network. When ready, start (or restart) AP. This disconnects Brian from any other WiFi if connected. Up to 3 clients can connect to Brian in AP mode.
(Re)boot behavior
Select Boot behavior
in the WiFi config
menu to configure automatic WiFi management.
Start on boot?
- always start — WiFi starts on every boot and will connect or start AP.
- if previously on (default) — WiFi starts only if it was enabled before the last shutdown.
- don't autostart — Manage WiFi manually.
Startup mode?
- scan & connect (default) — Continuously scans for available networks and connects to a known network with the strongest signal. If Brian leaves the network’s range, it scans and reconnects.
- fallback to AP (default on) — After several failed attempts to connect to an existing network, Brian starts its own AP. Otherwise, it keeps scanning until it can connect.
- only start AP — Do not attempt to connect to any network; start AP mode directly.
BRemote (WiFi Brian Remote app)
